Make reading a priority in your life... Drop Everything And Read! | Tomorrow - April 12 - is National Drop Everything And Read (D.E.A.R.) Day. It's a day that encourages you to drop everything you're doing (errands, chores, etc.) and pick up a book to read. It's an activity you can do by yourself, with your friends, or with your family. D.E.A.R. is celebrated every year on April 12, in celebration of Beverly Cleary’s birthday because she's the author who first wrote about it in her book Ramona Quimby, Age 8. When I was a kid, I used to love Beverly Cleary's books. Ramona the Pest and Runaway Ralph were my favorites. This year Beverly Cleary will be celebrating her 99th birthday! Maybe I'll celebrate her birthday and D.E.A.R. by dropping the grocery shopping and laundry and re-reading one of my old favorites! What will you drop and what will you read on D.E.A.R. Day? |
