Last night Kailee Conrad, Registered Dietitian with ShopRite of Southington stopped by Southington Library to teach teens how to prepare a few easy snacks with some unique ingredients. Participants made Mango Chia Pudding with fresh diced mango, honey, Greek yogurt, and chia -- an edible whole-grain seed that has a mild, nutty flavor and is packed with healthy omega-3 fatty acids, carbohydrates, protein, fiber, antioxidants and calcium. Teens also made Lettuce Wraps with avocado, black beans, black-eyed peas, corn, green pepper, tomato, and ranch dressing.
Kailee kept the teens busy washing, rinsing, measuring, mixing, chopping, dicing, pouring... and then finally... eating! Everything tasted delicious!
